Today, Andy and Roy have been over the burgy pond removing line from trees and starting to clear room on one of the pegs, adding sleepers along the front. It's going to be a slow process, given the need to finish the new swims on the roadside but it's already looking ?

There are still some signs to be added and if venturing down there, please adhere to what they say.

Norman will also be calling down to check permits and night stamps alongside Andy, Roy and Stu

Great work boys, a credit to the club ?

Today has seen a work party take place on the burgy pond. A small, dedicated few have braved the elements to clear up litter and they've only scratched the surface. Unluckily for one person, they have left their ID to let us know who they are and their details have been forwarded to the club.

There is absolutely no excuse for leaving litter anywhere on any of the club's waters, and anyone found to be littering will be dealt with by the club and face the possibility of a lengthy ban.

On a positive note, the lads have done a great job along the rail bank and into the corner peg and it looks?. They've also managed to get some new signage in and around the water, so please have a look if you're venturing down there.

As of now, Andy, Roy and Stu will be popping down to check permits. Please remember you will need a permit and this year's night stamp to fish nights on the burgy pond and junior members need to be accompanied by a night stamp holding senior.

A great effort today though ?

Many of you will have noticed the on going work on the roadside this last week, as the club looks to install 3 double swims and 2 single swims from peg 100 onwards along the roadside. It's been a slow process given the recent weather we've had, but the lads hired by the club have really pulled their guts out. These pegs will benefit all members that fish the dam and will allow people to fish comfortably and keeping tackle cleaner, as the grading will act as a wash away for any rain that falls.

These swims are not finished as of yet, but there's a plan in place on securing the banking structure, to add to the longevity of the final product. The club will hopefully be running some work parties to get these pegs finished off, and I will be updating on the progress here in due course. The swims will allow anglers to fish comfortably in an area that has had limited access for a number of years.

If fishing these pegs in the mean time, we ask that anglers take caution towards the front of the swims, until the work has been completed at the water's edge in securing the front of them.

There is also a plan in place to finish the work on the drop which will take a little time, to work out logistically the best way to approach it. Given the task of the job, it may well be worth us running a work party alongside the guys hired to do it, to keep the costings down perhaps.

Once again I'd like to thank all those at the club for helping to make this happen ???

Stu

Today has seen a further stocking of fish into the burgy pond. 10 quality fish have been provided by VS Fisheries between 8.8-12.12lb with 90% of those fish being over 10lbs in weight. These fish are 4 summers old (C4) and you may or may not be aware that the club introduced a few of these same strain of carp from VS Fisheries around 3 years ago into Carr Mill. Some of those fish have absolutely banged the weight on and look fantastic, for those that have been lucky enough to catch them. These fish were carefully selected for the burgies, given that it has an extremely low stock of fish when the club precured the rights to the water. Once again I'd like to thank all involved in the purchase, sale and stocking of the fish this morning ???

Over the course of the week, the club has seen some stocking of carp into a few of its waters. 300 fish have been added in total between the digpit, the legger and the canal. A mixture of smaller commons and mirrors around 8-10" and a number of fish between 3-5lb were added to boost the numbers that are currently stocked. These fish were purchased from Steve at White Water Fisheries using funds from the club and I would personally like to thank all those involved in the planning, sourcing and stocking of these fish. In time these fish will grow and everyone will benefit from having them in our waters???
