Litter Issue at Leg O Mutton Dam

Dear Members

We have recently received a complaint from St Helen`s Council regarding the litter issue at the Dam. Can we remind all anglers that as per rule no 7f in the permits “Anyone caught leaving litter, or being in possession of cans, will have their licence taken away for that year” A new bailiff has recently been appointed, and this rule will be enforced with the backing of the committee. Repeated complaints of this nature could result in the Association loosing the fishing rights to this water, along with other waters rented to us by the council. Your cooperation in assisting us to keep this water, along with all our other waters litter free would be appreciated.

New water for St Helens Angling Association

IMG_1975 IMG_1973 IMG_1972 IMG_1971St Helens AA are pleased to announce Sidings Lane to its current portfolio of waters. This picturesque little venue, located of the Rainford Bypass  is ideal for pleasure anglers, who want to get away from it all and relax in peaceful surroundings. Initial feedback from the few anglers who have ventured out so far, is that the venue is extremely well stocked, with lots of bites from Roach, Skimmers,Crucian Carp, with larger fish to be seen cruising around the surface. There is parking for approximately 10 cars with easy access to the lake, good level footpaths around the venue and easy accessible fishing platforms. Any additional information regarding the fish stocks of this venue would be greatly appreciated.

Tom Pickering collects a well earned Pound

Tom Pickering collects a well earned pound after winning  a peg to peg battle with Mark Harris during the recent Feeder Fest Qualifier. Mark drew peg 89 (he appears to draw this area quite frequently), and was beaten by Tommy who caught late on the method from Peg 90.

ST Helens AA 3 Day Feeder Fest

May I take this opportunity to thank all anglers who took part in the first ever 3 Day Feeder Fest on Carr Mill a success. The event was well organised and we look forward to the next one scheduled in October.  Overall winner was local lad David Rigby, with a perfect 3 day score, followed up by local Bream Legend Dennis Knight. Largest individual weight, and total weight over the 3 days was Gary Lambert. The bream responded well (albeit in certain areas ) over the 3 days, lets hope they stay on the feed for the foreseeable future.IMG_2022IMG_2031IMG_2005IMG_2045

Tench Arrive at the Basin

This week saw the arrival of 22 quality Tench ranging from 3 to 6lb, stocked into the Sankey Basin. Tony the association bailiff was delighted with the new additions, and personally released each one lovingly and with care.  The largest specimen has been fondly named “Antonia”, only Tony  knows why. This is the latest investment by St Helens AA, and hopefully, with the assistance of our members we will carry on with the continued improvements to all our association waters.IMG_1929 IMG_1936 IMG_1928 IMG_1922 IMG_1920
